“It is an honor to partner with the Steuben County IDA to give our 8th grade students an early look at careers in our own communities,” says Corning-Painted Post Area School District Superintendent Michelle Caulfield. “Manufacturing careers are on the rise, and we need to expose our students to these opportunities, so they can explore pathways which lead them into the field with some knowledge and experience.”
According to the National Association of Manufacturers, the average manufacturing salary in the United States is $92,832 and there will be more than 4 million positions open over the next ten years.
“Manufacturing accounts for about 12% of the total jobs in Steuben County, representing a major part of the economy,” says Steuben County IDA Executive Director Jamie Johnson. “Like many areas of the country, our companies are struggling to fill open positions to grow and expand their operations. This event is designed to show students, parents, and the community that modern manufacturing is a vibrant, vital industry that can provide a long-term career path for students.”
